NUS is ranked Top in Asia, and Top 10 in the world in the subject of Mathematics.

We strongly believe that the tutor’s personality and character is just as important as his academic qualifications. For Maths Tutors, patience when explaining to students is absolutely necessary.

Despite Mr Wu’s academic qualifications, he remains a humble and patient teacher. Also, parents can rest assured that Mr Wu teaches at a level that students can fully understand. For A Levels, we will try to teach it in a clear and simple way such that even a Sec 3/4 student can understand. For O Levels, we will teach it such that even Sec 1/2 students can understand, and so on.

Mr Wu is just an ordinary person who has mastered the skills and techniques necessary to excel in mathematics in Singapore. Despite being in the Gifted Education Programme from Primary to Secondary school, Mr Wu’s secret to excelling in Maths is not genius nor giftedness but hard work and the Maths techniques and tips he has discovered by himself while navigating through the Singapore education system.

He would like to teach these techniques to students, hence choosing to become a full-time Mathematics tutor. Mr Wu has developed his own methods to check the answer, remember formulas (with understanding), which has helped a lot of students. Many Math questions can be checked easily, leading to the student being 100% confident of his or her answer even before the teacher marks his answer, and reducing the rates of careless mistakes.

Mr Wu is also the elder brother of two medical students. His younger brother is studying Medicine at Monash University, and his younger sister is studying Medicine at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.

Mr Wu sincerely believes in the proverb of “青出于蓝而胜于蓝“, which means “the student surpasses the teacher“. Through teaching students how to excel in Mathematics, Mr Wu hopes to build a solid Mathematical foundation for all students to excel in their future careers.

Teaching Goals:

The teaching goals are to enable the student to understand concepts in the syllabus, promote interest in the subject, and to explain clearly the methods to solve Math problems. Maths is a very cumulative subject, a solid foundation is needed to progress to the next level. We sincerely look forward to helping more students build a strong foundation in Mathematics.

For Mathematics, we believe that the best way to progress is through practice and understanding. Techniques to check the answer and short methods to solve a question faster are useful. Perseverance is essential in Mathematics, the important thing is not to give up, and keep trying!

For individual Maths tuition, the tutor can travel to the student’s house.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

– Proverbs 22:6

Great site and kinda fun if you like to learn about learning. I wish more tutors in Singapore would have sites like this that shows the tutor’s passion for Math. And I especially like that you are open to using alternative methods to learning and specifically learning about Math. Math so elegantly and precisely describes the world that we perceive and live in so it’s sad that most people don’t appreciate or understand it’s importance in our daily lives. People kinda get computers but what they don’t realize and that computers are computation device and that all the really important stuff that computers enable does so based on math and complex algorithms.

It’s very apparent that you love what you do and you have a talent for sharing it in a way that is both engaging and easy enough to understand. Truly a rare talent. I can’t wait to get back to reading more on your blog.
